Sid Caesar and Howard Morris on "Caesar's Hour," 1954
To me, Sid Caesar is the towering genius of 1950s TV comedy -- bigger than Gleason, Berle or even Lucy. He surrounded himself with great writers (Mel Brooks, Mel Tolkin, Woody Allen) and great sidekicks (Howard Morris, Carl Reiner, Imogene Coca, Nanette Fabray).
